For PR people
Hallo! Are you a PR or marketing person? If so, please take the time to read and fully digest this page before you send any email. If you do email us, please only email Suw. And please don’t send me US-focused PR at all unless it’s truly of global interest. I’m unlikely to blog about a service or product that’s US-only, given that I’m in the UK.
Now, to the nitty gritty.
Do not send me your press release unless your product or service relates to:
- Cats. Please note that “cats” means any member of the family Felidae. It does not mean dogs, rabbits, horses, goldfish, turtles or pets in general. It means cats.
- Self-build. That is, products or services that may be of interest to people who build their own homes.
- Green building practices and products. Green as in “environmentally friendly”, not as in “the colour green”.
- Self-build TV programmes, shows, magazines etc. (green or otherwise - extra points for green, though.)
- Green or cat-friendly design, architecture, etc. There’s a trend here, don’t you think?
Never, ever send me:
- Stuff about dogs. Dogs aren’t cats, you see. They go “woof!” not “miaow!”
- Random stuff about pets in general. I’m not going to blog about pet smells, pet fashion, pet games, pet videos, pet studies, pet stories, etc. Mentioning cats in your email will not change this fact.
- Attachments, unless I specifically ask for them.
- HTML emails. They suck. Plain text please.
- Anything to do with dogs. Really, I’m serious.
- Anything about the environment if it’s not to do with self-building. I’m not interested in greening the restaurant trade, the tech industry or pest control.
- Stuff about cloning. I mean, cloning? Stop it already!
Whilst we’re at it, please never:
- Ask me to call you or ask me to set up a conference call with you or with anyone you might represent. If I want more information I will get in touch. You emailed me, so I know where I can get hold of you.
- Send your email more than once. If I didn’t respond first time, I’m not going to respond a second time.
Please remember that whilst it does have ads on, this blog is really about our personal journey towards house and cat ownership (although I use the word “ownership” in its loosest possible sense when it comes to cats). To be honest, I hardly ever blog the press releases I’m sent. They usually just go in the trash.
One way to figure out whether or not I might actually be interested is to actually read the archives. If I’ve never blogged about cloning or turtles or cloning turtles before, then chances are that I’m not going to start now. But if you’ve looked at the blog, and you’ve taken in everything above, and you still think that you have something I might be interested in, then please do get in touch. I may not respond, and I may not blog about your stuff… but then again, I might.
