I knew there were quite a few empty houses around, but I thought it was more like 80k, not the 830,000 they quoted. When I heard that, my head very nearly a sploded. It is worth watching it on iPlayer whilst you can, though, because I missed out a lot of other stuff. There's a whole section on how hard it is to get on the council housing waiting list, and the vile conditions some people live in whilst they are waiting to be given a home.
